E. Wade Shows

 

E. Wade Shows was one of the founding partners in the law firm of Shows, Cali & Walsh, L.L.P.; which was established in 1983.  A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Mr. Shows passed away on May 6, 2017 at the age of 67. He graduated from Louisiana State University Law School and was admitted to practice in Louisiana on October 24, 1975. Mr. Shows served as Parish Attorney for East Baton Rouge from 2005 through 2008, was the Secretary of the Louisiana State Bar Association from 2005 through 2007, served as President of the Baton Rouge Bar Association in 2001 and served as a member of its Board of Directors from 1993 through 2002.  Mr. Shows was a member of the Capital Area Legal Services Board of Directors, was elected in 2000 for a two-year term as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association House of Delegates, was elected to the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Board of Governors in 2000, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Education, and served as its President in 2005.

Mr. Shows was a member of the LSU ROTC and served as a Captain in the United States Air Force for the Presidential Clemency Board in Washington, D.C. Continuing in the standby reserves, he was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in 1984. He was actively involved in the fraternal order of Phi Kappa Psi. 

Throughout his career, Mr. Shows was the recipient of many awards, including:

  • First Annual Annie Smart Award presented by the Capital Areal Legal Services for his contributions to providing services to the needy in the Baton Rouge area

  • Baton Rouge Bar Foundation Pro Bono Project’s Friend of the Pro Bono Award in 1998

  • 1998 Pro Bono Publico Award presented by the Louisiana State Bar Association 

  • Louis A. Martinet Foundation Pro Bono Program award in 1999
